The Nine Waves Immersions
This is Nine Eight Week Immersions into the Irish Myths.
It is on Zoom for 2 hours a week and is based on the very successful series that we ran during the Covid Years. It is based on Oral Tellings of the Myths followed by breakout groups to discuss the contemporary relevance of this wonderful and unique wisdom tradition.
On these Immersions we work closely with our long time Bard Karina Tynan whose two books Táin and Sídb tell the Stories from the perspective of the Women in the Myths.
The Bard School
This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding and to develop your Bardic Skills in a safe and supportive environment. The Bard School works with participants who have completed an Immersion In one of the Nine Waves programs and helps them to become a “Myth Teller”. This may be in a variety of forms: oral, written, song, poetry, painting, sculpture.
We are also very interested in the way myths and archetypes are so central in modern culture and particularly how they are often Central in the the most successful outputs of popular culture: films, TV Series,
Myth & History
The Myth & History Program explores the mythic roots of a number of key eras of History/Herstory. We hear myths and history simultaneously. We also use character role plays to get inside the head of key figures in each period. In parallel we arrange “Mythic Minds” inputs from relevant experts in key fields.
But the main focus is on how mass audiences can become easily manipulated Through the use and abuse of cultural myths.
Anchoring the Myth & History approach is:
1) A focus on collective emotions; fear, anger, shame, guilt etc that tend to drive behavior….. “we feel before we think”.
2) Understanding “order” and “chaos” and how this determines actions
3) Looking at reactions to shared trauma and intergenerational trauma.
4) Drawing on Gebser’s work on ‘consciousness’: mental, mythical, magical
5) Understanding the psychology and personality disorders of key leaders
